How classical music affects the fetus during pregnancy: scientists have made an incredible discovery
Mexican scientists investigate how music affects fetal heart rate

A new study has confirmed that classical music can calm the heart rate of the fetus and promote its development in the womb. Mexican scientists have investigated how music affects the fetal heart rate.

They found that parents who play soothing tunes can stimulate the child's autonomic nervous system. According to researcher Eric Alonso Abarca-Castro, changes in the fetal heart rate occur instantly during short-term fluctuations. It is reported by Interesting Engineering.

During the experiment, the scientists analyzed the variability of the heart rate, which allows to assess the development of the autonomic nervous system. A higher degree of this variability usually indicates a healthy maturation of the body.

The study involved 36 pregnant women. Scientists played them classical works such as Camille Saint-Saëns' Swan and Abundio Martinez' Arpa de Oro. Using external monitors, they recorded how the fetal heart rate changes under the influence of music. The findings show that listening to melodies makes the heartbeat more stable and predictable.

According to researcher Claudia Lerma, the immediate impact of music can have a positive effect on the development of the fetal autonomic nervous system. Scientists emphasize that listening to classical music during pregnancy can be a simple and effective way to support the healthy development of an unborn child.
