How to lower the temperature in a room if there is no light: 5 simple tips

It's hard to fall asleep when the lights go out in the evening and it's still incredibly hot outside.
However, you can make this process easier for yourself with five useful tips from Bob Vila. They will help make your sleep more comfortable, even if you can't use the air conditioner.
Put your pillows in the freezer
Take the pillow and pack it in a bag, then place it in the freezer for 10 minutes. If there is no room for the entire pillow, you can freeze only the pillowcase. The quick freeze will produce a temporary, tangible cool effect that will help you fall asleep faster.
Wet the sheets
The secret to this method is to humidify the air to make it cooler. Take a large sheet or bath towel and soak it in water, but don't wring it out until it's dry so that it's saturated with moisture but not wet. Hang the sheet near an open window so that the night draft carries the water-cooled air around the room. You can also spray water from a spray bottle on it when the sheet dries a little.
Drink mint tea
Menthol has the ability to stimulate protein sensory receptors in the mouth, which causes a feeling of coldness. Therefore, foods that contain menthol (such as mint, tarragon, basil, and oregano) create a feeling of coolness. Although the taste of some of these herbs may not suit your taste, if you drink a glass of cold mint tea with an ice cube before going to bed, your body temperature will drop, which will help you fall asleep faster. In addition, mint has the properties of a natural sedative.
Cool down parts of the body
If you need to cool down quickly, use ice on pulsating points on your body. Wrap the ice cubes in a cloth and place them on the back of your knees, the crooks of your elbows, under your armpits, or near your neck to create a cold compress.
Close the windows
Close the windows to prevent excessive heat from entering the room. About 30% of unnecessary heat enters your home through windows, especially if they face south or west. Therefore, if you are not at home, you should keep them closed. Using curtains, blinds, and shutters can significantly reduce the temperature inside the room.
