How to clean a shower head from limescale: life hack with vinegar

When washing the bathroom, many people forget about an important element – the shower head. At first glance, what could possibly stain it, since we barely touch it?
But when you look up, you can see an unpleasant picture: a layer of limescale, minerals, and bacteria that has accumulated over time. But don't worry! Brian Toward, CEO of Wholesale Domestic, shares a simple life hack that will help you get rid of this problem.
The secret to cleanliness is plain vinegar!
"People often forget about the shower head," says Toward. – "It's only during the shower that you notice all the dirt. "Distilled white vinegar is a great way to clean limescale from your shower head."
Where does limescale come from?
Limescale is formed from hard water that contains many minerals. This water, passing through limestone, chalk, or gypsum, is enriched with calcium and magnesium, which settle on the plumbing.
Although limescale itself is not harmful to health, it can negatively affect the condition of the skin and hair, as well as lead to problems with plumbing.
How to clean a shower head with vinegar:
- Unscrew the shower head.
- Pour white vinegar into a zip-top bag to completely immerse the head.
- Leave the watering can in the vinegar for an hour to dissolve limescale.
- Remove the watering can from the bag and treat it with your favorite disinfectant.
- Rinse the watering can with hot water to remove any residual vinegar and disinfectant.
Why is vinegar effective?
White vinegar contains acetic acid, which breaks down calcium carbonate, the main component of limescale.
