Sleep better: instead of a sedative, pot these plants

Houseplants in the bedroom can significantly improve the quality of your sleep. Although it's not the most common advice, plants can affect sleep in two main ways: by providing a pleasant scent that promotes relaxation and by purifying the air, which increases oxygen levels, which has a positive effect on overall health.
Experts from Woolroom shared tips on how plants can help you fall asleep better and have relaxing properties.
One of the most famous plants for helping you fall asleep is lavender. Not only is its scent aesthetically pleasing, but scientific studies have shown that it promotes better sleep. A study conducted at the University of Southampton found that participants who slept in a lavender-scented room rated their sleep quality 20% better.
Another great choice is jasmine. A study by West Virginia University found that people who slept in a room with a jasmine scent slept more peacefully and even performed better on mental function tests upon waking.
Gardenia, with its soothing scent, can also be your ally in the fight against insomnia. This plant has natural calming properties that will help you fall asleep faster and provide a pleasant scent in the bedroom.
Plants that purify the air
In addition to fragrances, some plants contribute to better sleep by purifying the air. For example, the spider plant is able to remove harmful chemicals such as formaldehyde and benzene, which helps you wake up fresh and rested.
The snake plant, also known as mother-in-law's tongue, not only cleanses the air of toxins, but also converts carbon dioxide into oxygen at night. This helps to saturate the brain with oxygen, which improves sleep quality.
Peace lily is another plant recommended by NASA for air purification. It breaks down harmful gases such as formaldehyde and benzene while you sleep, providing clean air in your bedroom.
Integrating these plants into your bedroom can help you improve your sleep quality, ensuring a more restful and healthy rest.
