Scientists find 635 million-year-old marine animal in Australia

Australian paleontologists have made a sensational discovery: fossilized remains of a creature unknown to science that lived on Earth more than 500 million years ago have been found in the depths of the earth. This ancient organism, named Quaestio, which means "question" in Latin, has become a real mystery to scientists.
Quaestio had a flat, fleshy body with a characteristic shape that resembled an inverted question mark. Its size reached about 8 centimeters. This organism belongs to the Ediacaran biota, one of the oldest known forms of complex life on Earth. This is reported by Interesting Engineering.

What makes Quaestio so special?
The shape of Quaestio's body with its bilateral symmetry and asymmetrical element is unique for the period. This indicates a fairly high level of organization for a creature that lived more than half a billion years ago. Scientists assume that Quaestio lived on the ocean floor, moving around in search of food. His body was perfectly adapted for this way of life. The discovery of Quaestio allows scientists to better understand how life developed on Earth and what were the first steps in the evolution of complex organisms.
Quaestio research is ongoing. Scientists plan to conduct additional analyzes of the fossils to get more information about this amazing creature. The discovery of Quaestio is an important step in understanding the evolution of life on Earth and may lead to new sensational findings.
