For many people, coffee is not just a drink, but a ritual that invigorates them in the morning and gives them a boost of energy throughout the day. However, coffee brewed at home doesn't always delight the taste buds. What is the main mistake in making this flavorful drink?

Many people believe that the hotter the water, the better the coffee. This is a myth that leads to a bitter and astringent drink, UAportal team notes.

The fact is that boiling water destroys the essential oils of coffee beans responsible for the rich taste and aroma. Instead of the desired pleasure, you get an unpleasant aftertaste.

The optimal temperature for brewing coffee is 95 degrees. In this case, the drink will be strong and rich enough, but not bitter.

If you prefer a more delicate taste, you can lower the temperature slightly to 90-92 degrees. This will emphasize the subtle fruity or floral notes of the coffee.

Remember that water just removed from the heat is too hot. It is better to cool it down a bit for 50 seconds to optimize the temperature.

Another life hack: cover the cup of coffee with a plate. This will help the drink reveal its flavor and give it a richer taste.
