Unique tablet with unknown inscriptions discovered in Georgia: shows sophisticated level of craftsmanship

Georgian archaeologists have made a sensational discovery - they have found a basalt tablet of Bashplemi with a unique writing system that has no analogues in the world archaeological practice. This discovery may radically change scientific understanding of the origin of ancient scripts.
The tablet, discovered by fishermen during the dry season on Lake Bashplemi, contains 60 characters arranged in seven columns. Despite the fact that scientists have not yet been able to decipher its content, the study showed an extremely high level of skill of ancient craftsmen. This is reported by Interesting Engineering.
Archaeologists assume that the inscription was made about 14 thousand years ago, in the period between the Late Bronze and Early Iron Ages. The creator used a sophisticated technique: a conical drill and rounded tools to create the symbols, which indicates a remarkable technical skill.
Experts put forward different versions of the purpose of the tablet - from a description of military trophies to a religious offering. The uniqueness of the discovery lies in its potential connection with ancient writings from different regions - from the Middle East to India and Western Iberia.
The researchers find similarities between the symbols and the Proto-Kartvelian script, Georgian Mrgvlovani, Albanian scripts, as well as Phoenician and Proto-Sinaitic systems. At the same time, scholars emphasize that the Bashplemi inscription does not repeat any known script.
The potential connection of the tablet with the legendary myth of Jason and the Argonauts is particularly interesting. The discovery may confirm the cultural exchange between the Caucasus and neighboring regions, and prove that this territorial area was much more important in the development of ancient writing than previously thought.
The Basplémy basalt tablet may become one of the most exciting archaeological discoveries of recent times, which requires further thorough research.
As a reminder, archaeologists found a square dating back to the Ancient Roman era in Spain.
