Favorite summer drink is dangerous: what happens if you drink beer every day

In the summer, when the heat is exhausting and the day seems like an eternity, a glass of cool beer can be a real lifesaver. But is this drink as harmless as it seems at first glance? Is it possible to drink it without harming your health?
This is what the famous doctor Yurii Haborets told us on his TikTok.
Can you drink beer every day?
The doctor's unequivocal answer is no. Regular beer consumption, even in small amounts, can lead to serious health problems, such as:
Beer alcoholism
This is especially true for women and adolescents because they do not perceive low-alcohol drinks as a serious threat. Gradually "relieving stress" with a few beers in the evening, a person can easily switch to 2-3 liters per evening, and later start the day with beer instead of coffee in the morning. Such a regimen will inevitably lead to serious consequences: stress on the heart, increased blood pressure, diuretic effect, which puts additional strain on the kidneys, edema, gastritis, and heartburn.
Decreased potency and "beer belly" in men
Beer abuse negatively affects the male reproductive system, leading to a decrease in potency. It also contributes to the accumulation of fat in the abdominal area, forming a "beer belly."
Menstrual irregularities, facial hair growth, and spider veins in women
Drinking beer can lead to hormonal disorders in women, which are expressed in menstrual irregularities, the appearance of antennae above the upper lip, and spider veins on the face.
Deterioration in sleep quality and mood
Beer abuse negatively affects the quality of sleep, because the liver spends energy on neutralizing alcohol rather than restoring the body. This leads to a broken state in the morning, irritability, and a deterioration in mood.
Diabetes and the transition to stronger drinks
Regular beer consumption can become a "gateway" to diabetes mellitus, as well as stimulate the transition to stronger alcoholic beverages.
Is there a safe dose?
The ideal is to give up beer completely. But if you sometimes want to allow yourself a little, it is important to adhere to the maximum permissible standards:
- Men: no more than 1 liter once a week.
- Women: no more than 0.5 liters per week.
Should you quench your thirst with beer?
In the summer heat, beer not only fails to quench your thirst but can also be harmful:
- It puts a strain on the heart and blood pressure: Drinking beer in the heat puts extra stress on the heart, which is already working hard. This can lead to high blood pressure and vascular spasms.
- Worsening of sleep: Drinking beer before bed negatively affects the quality of sleep, as the liver spends resources on neutralizing alcohol rather than restoring the body.
- The burden on the kidneys and gastrointestinal tract: Beer has a diuretic effect, which can lead to dehydration and additional stress on the kidneys. It can also irritate the walls of the stomach and intestines, causing inflammation.
