How to prepare your body for a beautiful tan

In addition to the basic rules of sun exposure that we discussed in previous publications, you need to prepare your body from the inside out and far in advance of the insolation season.
Antioxidant complexes
I wrote about taking nutraceutical complexes earlier (the "skin" section in highlights), antioxidants should be started 2 months before insolation! They have a smooth cumulative effect. I like to combine a complex of carotenoids + astaxanthin.
Carotenoids will also help to tint the skin a little in a pleasant golden color.
Astaxanthin and carotenoids, when taken in a course, protect against excessive UV exposure, reduce skin damage and prevent burns.
Important. In the presence of hypothyroidism, carotenoids are poorly converted to vitamin A, and therefore carotenoids will accumulate strongly - you can noticeably turn yellow from taking carotenoids in supplements or even in the form of carrot juice. So keep in mind that this advice will most likely not work for you. But you can try it once, this "yellowing" is not dangerous. But test it and you will know how inefficiently beta-carotene is converted into active vitamin A in your body.
Complexes with carotenoids + astaxanthin should be taken with warm foods that contain fats.
Before the insolation season, raise your vitamin D level to the upper limit of the reference range.
Vitamin D increases skin defense mechanisms, reduces local and general inflammation, and prevents sunburn. My patients are surprised to note that all their lives the skin simply blushed in the sun and it was unrealistic to get a tan, then after a full correction of the level of vitamin D, the skin stopped blushing and began to get a golden tan. And we thought it was all about genetics:)
Yes, indeed, the amount of melanin pigment in our skin is genetically determined, and those who produce a lot of melanin burn less.
But in addition to genetics, acquired factors also play a role. If you have any chronic inflammatory diseases, then your antioxidant systems are already overloaded - they are constantly working to neutralize inflammation. And your skin will not be as fully protected in the sun.
