How to clean a metal fence from old paint: life hack with a chain

On the eve of Remembrance Sunday, many Ukrainians are in a hurry to clean up the graves of their loved ones. One of the most important tasks is to update the metal fence, which loses its appearance over time due to old paint.

There is an interesting life hack that will help you quickly and easily clean the fence from old paint with a regular chain. TSN writes about it.

What you will need:

• A chain with strong links
• A dry cloth or brush

Instructions:

1. Take a chain with strong links with you to the cemetery. Make sure it is strong enough to withstand the job.
2. Wrap the chain around the fence that needs to be cleaned of paint. The chain should be tight against the metal surface.
3. Hold the ends of the chain and pull them toward you one by one. Due to the friction of the links against the metal, the paint will be cleaned.
4. Repeat this process along the entire fence until the paint is completely removed. You can change the direction of the chain if necessary.
5. When you are finished removing the old paint, wipe the metal fence with a dry cloth or brush to remove any remaining paint.

Important:

• Be careful when working with the chain to avoid injuring yourself.
• Do not use this method to clean a fence with wrought iron elements, as the chain can damage the pattern.

Alternative methods:

Some people find that you can use sandpaper or a metal brush instead of a chain. These methods are also suitable for cleaning the fence, but may require more effort and time.
