How to make homemade sunscreen: life hacks with oil and cocoa

The sun can negatively affect the skin and lead to premature aging. That's why it's important to use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 in the summer. If you can't afford to buy the right sunscreen, you can create one.

Experts from Don't Waste the Crumbs shared life hacks on how to make sunscreen at home.

These homemade sunscreens will be free of toxins and parabens. All you need are the ingredients available. The basis for the cream will be a lotion that is very quickly absorbed by the skin. Zinc oxide and cocoa powder should be added to the lotion.

How to make sunscreen:

Take 450 grams of lotion, 2 tablespoons (115 grams) of zinc oxide, 12 drops of carrot seed oil, 12 drops of red raspberry seed oil, 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil (or sweet almond oil or fractionated coconut oil), 1-2 teaspoons of cocoa powder.

Wear a protective mask to prevent zinc oxide powder from entering the respiratory tract. Pour the lotion into a small bowl, add zinc oxide and oils. Mix well. Finally, add the cocoa powder. Mix again. Take clean glass jars with lids (it is better to sterilize them) and transfer the mixture to the containers. Store in a cool, dark place for up to a month.

If you want to make a sunscreen that is waterproof, you can use the following ingredients:

• 110 grams of beeswax granules (2 tablespoons without a slide)
• 450 grams of your favorite lotion
• 115 grams of zinc oxide (2 tablespoons)
• 12 drops of carrot seed oil
• 12 drops of red raspberry seed oil
• 2 tablespoons of jojoba oil or sweet almond oil
• 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder

How to make a sunscreen with a water-repellent effect

Put a glass or metal bowl in a steam bath, add the beeswax granules and let them melt. Remove the melted wax and let it cool slightly. Add the lotion and zinc oxide and mix. Then add the essential oils and cocoa and mix again. Put it in a storage container. You can use clean jars with lids.
