According to a recent study by Stanford researchers, aging is not a gradual process, as previously assumed. Instead, the body undergoes two major waves of molecular changes: the first in the mid-40s and the second in the early 60s.

Experts believe that preparing for these dramatic changes in advance can significantly improve the quality of aging and maintain health in old age. This is reported by National Geographic.

Age-related "bursts" can explain the sudden appearance of common signs of aging, such as wrinkles, gray hair, and increased susceptibility to disease. In the study, which was published in the journal Nature Aging, scientists analyzed more than 135,000 molecules and microbes from 108 people aged 25 to 75.

The study showed that 81% of these molecules changed significantly between the ages of 44 and 60, especially those responsible for metabolism, skin condition, muscle structure, and immunity. This may explain why many people experience more noticeable changes in their physical condition during this period of life.

Experts emphasized that the results of the study refute the traditional view of aging as a gradual process. They suggest that these "explosions" of aging may be the result of global biological processes, which are also influenced by factors such as nutrition, stress, and sleep.

The study has its limitations: it focuses on a relatively homogeneous group of participants from California and does not include data on people over 75 years old. In addition, the impact of external factors, such as nutrition or stress, on these age-related changes was not fully explored.

Despite these shortcomings, the study provides important insights that can help people prepare for aging in the future. The authors recommend limiting alcohol and caffeine intake, controlling cholesterol, being active, and using antioxidant skin care products to stay healthy as we approach critical aging periods.
