There is nothing better than warm, crusty bread straight from the oven or bakery. Unfortunately, however, it doesn't last long and dries out very quickly.

Stale bread should not be thrown away. There is an easy way to soften bread again and make it soft like it just came from the bakery.

Simply soaking stale bread in cold water can restore its pleasant texture and freshness. This tried-and-true method from bakers will be a real godsend.

How to restore freshness to stale bread

Take the stale bread and rinse it with cold tap water. The bread must be only slightly moistened. Then wrap the bread in aluminum foil. This will help to keep the moisture in while it heats up. Put the bread in an oven preheated to 150°C. Leave it there for 12-15 minutes.

Take the bread out of the oven, unwrap it, and put it back in for another five minutes. This will help to get a crispy crust.

Let the bread cool slightly before serving. After that, you can pour butter or jam over it as desired.
