Archaeologists find unique artifacts of ancient Babylon in Iran

Recent archaeological excavations on the territory of ancient Babylon in Iran have yielded sensational results. The expedition, led by archaeologist Kuhtan Abbas Hassan Aboud, discovered 478 artifacts from the ancient Babylonian period, which significantly expands our knowledge of life in ancient Mesopotamia.

The Iraqi State Board of Antiquities and Heritage (SBAH) reported these findings, made in the Al-Fayyadiyah area, known for its rich cultural layer. Excavations were carried out in two areas: sector A with an area of 6,000 square meters and sector B with an area of 9,000 square meters. Arkeonews reports.

In sector A, two historical layers were discovered. The upper one, dating back to the Sassanian period, has undergone significant erosion. The lower layer, dating from the ancient Babylonian period, is much better preserved and is of particular interest to scientists.

Sector B presented archaeologists with even more impressive finds, including two residential structures with rooms of various sizes. This discovery allows us to better understand the life of the ancient Babylonians.

The discovered artifacts include pottery, cuneiform tablets, and cylindrical seals. These items provide invaluable information about the culture, writing, and everyday life of one of the most prominent civilizations in human history.

SBAH reports that excavations are ongoing, and all findings are carefully documented in accordance with scientific standards. It is expected that further research on these artifacts will help to better understand the urban development and social organization of ancient Babylon.

This discovery not only enriches our knowledge of the past, but also emphasizes the importance of archaeological research for understanding the history of human civilization.
