Experts explain when to water an orchid: pay attention to the bark
When to water an orchid

Orchids are known for requiring special care. In summer, it all comes down to quality watering.

Experts explained that you should always check the roots of the plant. If the roots look green and the bark is dark and wet, you can wait a few more days to water, according to Express.co.uk.

However, if they look gray and the bark is dry, then it's time to water them carefully. Orchids usually only need to be watered once a week, but in the summer, if necessary, it should be increased to twice.

It is also important to keep the orchid away from air conditioning. This can quickly dry out the plant. Orchids are more active in summer, so add a balanced fertilizer to the water once a month.

Let the houseplant soak in the water for at least 20 minutes or until the roots turn green. After the time has elapsed, remove the orchid from the water and let the roots dry completely by pouring the remaining water out of the container. Return the houseplant to the decorative pottery and repeat this once a week.

Leaf loss or leaf wilting means that there is too much light, which leads to a deterioration of the plant's chlorophyll, a healthy orchid has dark green leaves.
