Mysterious object: an artifact related to a top-secret military program was found on a beach in the United States (photo)

In the United States, a mysterious object resembling an airplane fuselage washed up on the beach of the Cape Cod Peninsula, Massachusetts. According to historians, a more detailed analysis revealed that this artifact is related to military training.
This was reported by representatives of the Cape Cod National Seashore National Park on their Facebook page, Uapress reports .
The rocket-like structure was discovered on Marconi Beach in early April. National park staff joined forces to remove the mysterious object before it was washed back into the water.
"Park historian Bill Burke investigated the discovery and determined that it was the fuselage of a reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle (RCAT) used to train anti-aircraft guns. These drones were used at the Marconi base, where the US military camp (Camp Wellfleet) operated in the 1940s and 1950s," the park representatives said.
At this military base, RCATs were launched at speeds of 0 to 60 miles (96 km) per hour and were controlled remotely from a cliff. Anti-aircraft gunners, armed mostly with 40-millimeter guns, trained to shoot at these targets, which may explain the presence of drone debris on the seabed.
According to a website dedicated to Camp Wellfleet, the program was "top secret" due to the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union.

"The planes were all metal with a wingspan of about 3 meters. Some of them made up to twenty flights, while others exploded after the first one due to hitting a gas tank," the website says. The National Park Service did not specify what will happen to the found RCAT.
