Your own coffee on your windowsill: how to grow a coffee tree
It is not only a great way to decorate the interior, but also an opportunity to get your own harvest of exotic fruits

Do you like coffee? What do you think about growing a coffee tree on your windowsill? It's not only a great way to decorate your interior, but also an opportunity to get your own harvest of exotic fruits. This is what Obozrevatel writes about.

How to grow coffee at home?

Seed selection:

Forget about germinating beans from a coffee shop – they are already roasted. You will need special seeds, which can be purchased at garden centers or online stores.

Germination:

Soak the seeds overnight at room temperature. Sow the seeds in a pot of acidic soil (pH 6-6.5). Lightly moisten the soil and cover it with foil. Keep the pot in a warm place (20-25°C) and ventilate regularly. The first shoots will appear in 1-1.5 months.

Care:

Coffee loves a lot of diffused light, so it is better to place the pot near a window, but not on a windowsill. The optimum temperature is 20-25°C. Watering is frequent but in small portions. Provide high humidity (humidifier, pebble tray).

Flowering and fruiting:

The coffee tree blooms 3-5 years after planting. To pollinate the flowers, you will need your help (cotton swab, brush). The berries are ripe when they turn red. Dry the collected berries in the sun, then remove the pulp and roast the grains. The ground beans will become the basis for your own home-grown coffee drink.
