Astronomers discover giant planet as light as cotton candy. Scientists are stunned by the discovery of an exoplanet that is so fluffy it could float on water.

Astronomers have discovered a new exoplanet, WASP-193b, which is striking in its size and low density. It is about 50% larger than Jupiter, but it is much lighter, making it look like candy floss, Sky News reports.

The discovery of WASP-193b was made possible by combining data from two telescopes: Hubble and Subaru. The researchers found that the planet is formed as a result of a violent process called disk instability.

Scientists believe that WASP-193b consists mainly of hydrogen and helium, light gases that make it so fluffy. Its density is so low that it can float on water.

This discovery challenges theories of planet formation. Researchers did not expect to find an exoplanet of this size with such a low density. WASP-193b challenges existing theories of planet formation and is forcing scientists to rethink their ideas about how these cosmic bodies form.

WASP-193b is not the only furry planet. Last year, scientists discovered another exoplanet, 55 Cancri e, also known as Janssen. This planet, called the "super-Earth," is twice as big as ours, but has a mass similar to the Earth.
