An ancient 900-year-old book containing a prophecy about the date of Judgment Day has been discovered in the Vatican Apostolic Archives, known as "secret" because of its limited access. According to Christian beliefs, on Judgment Day, Jesus will return to Earth to determine the fate of humanity - who will be saved and who will be damned.

This was reported by the Daily Mail. The found manuscript claims that this moment will come in 2027. The authorship of the 12th-century book entitled "The Prophecy of the Popes" is attributed to St. Malachi. Its text contains cryptic statements describing each pope, starting with Celestine II in 1143 and ending with the current pontiff, Pope Francis.

The manuscript, which contains 112 cryptic sayings, was discovered in 1595 by the Benedictine monk Arnold Vion. He claimed that these writings belonged to St. Malachi and were lost in the Vatican archives.

The last passage of the book reads: "During the last persecutions of the Holy Roman Church, Peter of Rome will rule, leading his flock through numerous trials. After that, the seven-hill city will be destroyed, and the terrible Judge will pass his verdict on humanity. The end."

There are different interpretations of this prophecy: some believe that Peter will become the new pope after Francis, while others are convinced that Francis is the last pontiff. In addition, the text mentions Pope Sixtus V, who led the church in 1585, exactly 442 years after the first pope on the list. If we follow this logic, the end of the world should come in another 442 years, in 2027.

Despite the fact that the manuscript was found more than four centuries ago, interest in it was revived after Pope Francis was hospitalized for serious lung problems.

Some historians consider the text to be a 16th-century forgery. According to the chronicles, Malachi wrote his prophecy in 1139 after a mystical vision during a visit to Rome. Doubts about the authenticity of the manuscript arose because the descriptions of the popes are quite accurate until 1590, and later become too vague.

In recent decades, the prophecies of St. Malachi have been taken more and more seriously. According to the last record of Peter the Great, the "last pope" will lead the Church in a time of great cataclysmic events that will end in the destruction of Rome and the end of the papacy.
