Experts explain how a glass of water can help keep vegetables fresh three times longer

Fruits and vegetables sometimes start to spoil just a few days after purchase. This happens, in particular, due to improper storage.
Influencer Lyssa Louise shared a useful life hack that will extend the shelf life of fruits and vegetables. The key step, she advises, is to remove all plastic packaging that can accelerate spoilage, according to Express.co.uk.
Simply place root vegetables, such as lettuce or onions, root side down in a glass of water. This method, she claims, will keep them crisp and delay rotting or wilting.
For root vegetables, you need to drain the water and refill it daily or twice a day. Otherwise, they may become covered with mucus.
Spinach lovers can line a plate with paper towels, place the spinach on top, and chill it to keep the leaves from getting soggy. For optimal freshness, it is useful to store mushrooms in a paper bag in the refrigerator.
Berries, which often spoil quickly, can be preserved for longer by storing them in closed glass jars in the refrigerator.
