American genetics researchers have discovered that molecules in the human body undergo significant changes after reaching the age of 40 and 60. Scientists observed more than a hundred people in the age range of 25 to 75 years.

This is reported by RadioTrek. For several years, every few months, they donated blood samples and other biological materials.

The study found that the number of molecules and bacteria in the body was constantly changing – sometimes increasing, sometimes decreasing. The changes were usually not linear: in certain periods of life, they were much more pronounced than at other times.

By studying the groups of molecules with the greatest changes, scientists have found that these shifts most often occur in two age periods: around 44 and 60 years of age.

Scientists were not surprised that 60 years is a critical age limit, as it is known that after this age, the risk of many age-related diseases and disorders increases.

However, the 40-year mark raised more questions. It turned out that at this age, men and women experience significant changes in the number of molecules associated with the metabolism of alcohol, caffeine, and lipids, as well as cardiovascular disease, skin and muscle condition.

In people over 60, the changes concerned carbohydrate metabolism, caffeine metabolism, immune regulation, kidney function, heart and vascular disease, and skin and muscle condition. The researchers plan to further investigate the reasons behind these changes.

Regardless of the reasons, the findings emphasize the importance of paying attention to one's health, especially after the age of 40 and 60, and making timely lifestyle adjustments while one's health can still be maintained.
