They won't even look in the direction of your home: how to drive away mice
Mice can be easily driven out of the house

Mice, though they may seem cute, are a nightmare for many people. However, cruel methods of dealing with them, such as mousetraps, are becoming less and less popular. People are looking for more humane ways to get rid of these pests.

Luckily, a TikTok blogger has shared a "humane" way that she says will help you kick mice out of your home for good.

Jen, known on TikTok as @Jenxwrites, explains that this method is not only effective but also very budget-friendly: "If you have a problem with mice, I'm going to make your day better. It's a very cheap solution!" she shares.

Her secret is stainless steel cleaning sponges: "Mice love to run up and down walls, so put sponges between appliances, cabinets, and anywhere else they might show up. Obviously, mice don't like them, so this will save you money on an extermination service and also be a little more humane. Trust me, you don't want to be cleaning dead mice out of your mousetraps every morning," Jen says.

Emily Smalley, a former exterminator, also recommended using metal wool to repel mice: "Metal wool is a very fine and flexible wool with sharp edges that can be used for household purposes, including polishing and cleaning. Pests such as mice and rats don't like to chew on steel wool because the sharp edges hurt them," she explains.

Emily recommends using metal wool to fill holes in baseboards, pipes, under the sink, near radiators, on the wall under the refrigerator, oven, and dishwasher.

Advantages of using metal wool:

  • Non-toxic: You don't have to worry about it being harmful to people or pets.
  • Humane: It doesn't kill mice, it just repels them.
  • Budget-friendly: Metal wool is easy to find and buy at an affordable price.
  • Effective: Mice don't like the sharp edges of metal wool, so they won't get through the places where it is used.
